Floor Mats

Whoo! Here's something of earth shattering importance!

Sorry, just kidding. Seriously, I use a truck for its "intended purpose", which, quite often, involves getting all of it rather dirty. Therefore I have always preferred trucks with a rubber floor as opposed to carpet.

Unfortunately, with for S-10s with the LS package (mine is so equipped) you can only have interior carpeting, not a rubber floor. To get a rubber floor, you have to drop the LS option, and I wanted that as well.

Rubber floor mats as cribbed from the '84 GMC...I had some rubber mats that were stolen from the '84 GMC, but those were unsatisfactory. They didn't stay flexible when cold and they didn't fit the S-10 as well as they fit the GMC. They also tended to shift around and become lodged in the accellerator pedal--something I found out about one night in the grocery parking lot when I tried to pull the floor mat back! I learned the little truck can squeal the tires quite well!

While browsing around at Farm and Fleet recently (earlier 06/2003) I found some excellent floor mats that put an end to my worries about getting the carpet very dirty. For those who are interested, they are the Rubber Queen brand. These are advertised as being of "OEM quality" and I feel that is true...they match up very well. You would never know they were not something that was provided with the truck. To top it all off, they are some of the few floor mats made in the USA--a big selling point for me. I think they even came with a limited lifetime warranty. Price is reasonable too--about $17 as I remember it.

New floor mats

So if you're looking for some excellent grade floor mats for your S-10, these seem to be the ticket. So far mine have come clean easily, they complement the interior well, they stay put, they're more flexible and there was no cutting or modification required to make them fit.
