It allows the user to identify the type of display attached to the SVGA Adapter, and it allows you to select the refresh rates that the SVGA Adapter must use when the extended modes are selected. This program is used in the DOS and OS/2 environments. CLMINST: This DOS program installs the CLMODE files in the DOS root directory of the drive you specify. SETRES: This program performs the CLMODE functions from within Windows. INSTALLING THE NEEDED FILES WITH DOS VERSION 5.1 OR LATER INSTALLED ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Turn on the computer and the display. 2. Insert the IBM SVGA Support Diskette in drive A. 3. Copy the CLMODE.EXE and CLMODE.DAT files to the root directory or to a directory of your choice. Note: The CLMINST.BAT file, included on this diskette, copies the required files to the root directory. You can copy the files to another directory as long as the files are in the same path. - To copy the files to the root directory, at the command prompt, type A:CLMINST A: C: (where C: is the drive on which DOS is installed) Then press Enter. The files will be copied to drive C. - To copy the files to another directory, use the COPY command to copy the CLMODE.EXE and CLMODE.DAT files to the directory of your choice. USING THE CLMODE UTILITY ------------------------ At the command prompt, type CLMODE and press Enter. The main window, which consists of a number of buttons, will appear. Each button represents a different option or menu. Information concerning the SVGA Adapter, such as the controller type, the BIOS version number and the amount of video memory present, appears on the right side of the window. Note: If you want to use a mouse with CLMODE, you must install a mouse driver before you start the CLMODE Utility. Select the Monitor Type button. The Monitor Type window will appear. Use the cursor keys or the mouse to select the type of display (monitor) attached to the SVGA Adapter. Note: Selecting the Advanced monitor type will enable you to customize the display timings for the display you are using. Refer to the table that follows for a partial list of display types. Select the desired refresh rate for each resolution. Consult the manual for your display for the correct resolution and refresh rates. Before saving the new monitor type, you should select the Verify button to view each of the new video timings that you selected and to verify that the new settings are compatible with your display. After each test screen appears, press Enter or the left mouse button to view the next video mode. If there is a problem, press Esc or the right mouse button to return to the Monitor Type Setup box. Select a slower refresh rate for the resolution that failed to perform correctly; then verify your choices again. Once you are sure that everything is correct, press the Save button to set the new monitor type. Press the Cancel button to discard any changes. Press the Help button to get a detailed explanation on the monitor types and the refresh rates.
