What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the audio driver for Windows 95/98 users. The audio driver enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad 390X - ThinkPad i Series 1400 Type 2621 only (Only supported in Windows 98) - ThinkPad i Series 1500 Type 2621 only (Only supported in Windows 98) To determine if you have to update the audio driver or not, please refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the audio driver, please refer to the "Installation Guide" section. How to determine what version is installed: 1. Start Windows 95/98. 2. Click on 'Start' -> 'settings' -> 'Control Panel' 3. Open the 'System' Icon. 4. Click on the 'Device Manager' Tab. 5. Expand the 'Sound, video and game controller' section 6. Select "ESS SOLO-1 PCI AudioDrive" and click on 'Properties'. 7. Click on the 'Driver' Tab. 8. Click on the 'Driver File details' button. 9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ESSOLO.VXD The file has the version number embedded. For example: The file version is displayed as 4.05..00.1113. How to install: 1. Start Windows 95/98. 2. Extract this package to the hard disk. 3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Run...'. 4. Type "C:\DRIVERS\W9X\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE" and click on 'OK'. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. Unattended Installation: Use 'SETUP.EXE /S' command at the step 4. How to uninstall: 1. Start Windows 95/98. 2. Extract this package to the hard disk. 3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Run...'. 4. Type "C:\DRIVERS\W9X\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE" and click on 'OK'. 5. Click on 'Next'. 6. Select 'Uninstall Drivers', then click on 'Next'. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen. 8. Restart the system for the removal to be effective.
