Uploading the V.90 Firmware Before you upload the firmware, make sure that your notebook is connected to the AC power source. Do not connect the landline or GSM cable to the modem at this time. Warning Do not use the battery power while uploading the firmware. Do not turn the power off while performing this operation. Notes Upgrading to V.90 Firmware will replace the K56flex protocol firmware which is currently installed on your modem. Please make sure your ISP supports V.90 before performing the upgrade. While it is possible to revert back to K56flex protocol, that will require to you download and flash different firmware onto your modem. If you attempt to connect to a non-V.90 compatible line, your modem will default down to V.34 (33.6 kbps) communications. Before you proceed, make sure that the modem is recognized by your system and is fully operational in the landline mode. 1. Insert the modem in your notebook 2. Remove any cables attached to the modem 3. Click on the "Modem Flash Memory Loader" file. 4. The "Modem Flash Memory Loader" will automatically detect the modem and highlight the COM port where the modem is installed. Click on "Load Now" button. 5. The "Flash Loader Notice" will remind you not to operate the notebook on battery power while uploading the firmware. You can connect the AC Adapter at this time. Click on "OK." 6. The "Loading Flash Memory" window will show the progress of the flash load. When the load is completed the "Load Progress" bar will show 100% and you will see a "Load Successful!" message. Click on "Close." 7. Click on "Close" in the "Modem Flash Memory Loader" window. This concludes the firmware upload.
