NZKTxxA is the flash image level. (BIOS) NOTE: All changes carry forward. That is, if a change is added in 01, it is also in 02, 03 etc. CHANGES for NZKT/NZJT20A Initial release for first customer ship. Changes for NZKT/NZJT21A - Some PCI Lan attachement cards cause system to hang on warm boot. - Store systems controller hangs system when "Dump" switch on controller card is pressed. - Processor speed shown incorrectly in Setup program. - System will not resume from low power state when parallel port activity is detected. Changes for NZKT/NZJT22A - Bios Setup screens display wrong IDE hard disk size if drive is larger than 8.4 gig. - Downloading a DOS image from a network using a ISA network attachment card hangs. Changes for NZKT/NZJT23A - Holding down a key on the keyboard during POST occasionally locks system. - Fixed problem in flash update utility where the program would hang while reprograming the flash module. (If this happened on a earlier version,the flash could be recovered by setting the flash recovery jumper to "recover" and the clear CMOS jumper to "clear" and re-running the flash update procedure. - Fixed problem of network cards becoming unresponsive to the network (for example, not responding to a "Ping" request) when the system was in an APM power saving mode in OS/2 and Windows 95. (Note: in Windows 95, this fix only applies when the system has entered low power mode via the inactivity timer. If you enter low power mode via the suspend button in the start menu, network cards may still be unresponsive to network activity.) Changes for NZKT/NZJT24A - System powers off after clearing CMOS - Network cards loose touch with network under Windows 95 after a "Suspend" power management operation. Changes for NZKT/NZJT25A Not released - Changes to support ACPI in Windows 98 - Error message when running with a single 8 Meg. DIMM - Hangs during restart with APM enabled - Print screen in DOS only prints first 25 lines of screen - Added setup option to disable ECC checking in cache on processors that have ECC L2 cache. - Added support for Intel Celeron processor Changes for NZKT/NZJT26A Not released - Add LS120/Iomega Zip boot support (Mojave). Use the Microsoft W95 driver if using LS120 device. Procedure for Removing the Intel BM IDE driver from Mojave Win95 OSR2.x Preload =============================================================================== Background: ----------- The Intel BM IDE driver supports DMA and Ultra-DMA operation of Hard files and CD ROM devices. The Native IDE driver in Win95 OSR2.x supports DMA, but not Ultra-DMA operation. The Intel driver has several shortcomings, including not supporting LS120 devices. The Native Win95 OSR2.x driver seems to work fine with LS120 devices. The latest system performance tests indicate that there is little or not system performance penalty for using the Win95 OSR2.x native driver versus the Intel Busmaster Driver. To Remove the Intel Bus Master Driver: -------------------------------------- 1. Obtain the Intel Win95 Busmaster driver (Z23T11A) on a diskette from the RTC, or the IBM PC web site (http://www.pc.ibm.com) 2. Boot the Mojave system with the Win95 preload installed. Ensure all devices are running, and that there are no conflicts in Device Manager. 3. Insert the Intel Busmaster driver diskette into the A: drive 4. Open a MSDOS window, and type a:setup and press Enter 5. The install Wizard will start, press the NEXT button in the Welcome panel. 6. Press the DE-INSTALL button in the Select Components panel. 7. The driver will get de-installed, and you will be asked to restart, press OK button, and remove the diskette from the A: drive. 8. When the system reboots, the Update Device Driver Wizard will appear. Do NOT insert the Intel Busmaster driver diskette ! Press NEXT button, and the Wizard should find the native Win95 OSR2.x driver ' Intel 82371AB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller' on the hard file. Press the NEXT button. 9. You will be asked to restart your system, press YES button. If you have more than one IDE device in your system, you may be asked to restart more than once. The Intel Busmaster driver has now been removed, and the native Win95 OSR2.x driver is installed. The Win95 OSR2.x driver is DMA capable, but it usually defaults to NOT DMA operation. DMA will improve the system performance by allowing the device to transfer data at higher speed, and by reducing the load on the processor. To ensure DMA is enabled: ------------------------- 1. Open Device Manager 2. Click on the + box next to Disk Drives. Select the hard disk drive, and click on the Properties box. Select the Settings tab. There should be several check boxes, and one of these is labeled DMA; check this box, and click OK. You may be asked to restart your system, click on YES. 3. If you have a CD ROM, click on the + box next to CDROM. Select the CD ROM, and click on the Properties box. Select the Settings tab. There should be several check boxes, and one of these is labeled DMA; check this box, and click OK. You may be asked to restart your system, click on YES. 4. Click OK to close Device manager. - F1 hang when power switch pressed during a soft smi - Add flash support to LS120. (The non-Japanese version (NZJT29A) were o.k. This build (30) was done to correct the NZJ230A Japanese diskette and is otherwise identical to level 29.
