Problem: When a 6576/86 system with the IBM Windows 3.11 preload comes out of Advanced Power Management, the hardfile may make a loud clicking noise and the system may hang. This only applies to systems using either an IBM DALA-3540 (540MB) or an IBM DJAA-31700 (1.7GB) hardfile. Solution: The APM device drivers have a software bug corrected by two files: POWERMAN.386 and APMAPP.EXE. These files currently exist in the \Windows\System directory. POWERMAN.386 will be a hidden file, viewable if attributes are changed (at C: prompt, type ATTRIB -H *.386). Copy the new versions over the old ones and reboot the system.
