"Each device attached to the computer requires one or
more port addresses to communicate with the computer.   
The Everex tape system can run in any two consecutive
port addresses between 0000H and FFFEH (H=HEX), provided
that the addresses are not occupied by another device.
If the selected port addresses are already occupied by
another device, they will be marked by an asterisk (*)
and must be changed to avoid conflict. Use F5 and F6
keys to change your selection. If all the ports listed
in this menu are already used by other devices, you can
use the Everex streaming tape software INSTALL/CONFIG
program to create a customized ADF file."

ready to receive instructions, it signals the computer
by using interrupts. The Everex streaming tape controller
can run on any interrupt request line between 3 and 7.
Although the Everex tape controller and utility software
are designed to allow sharing the interrupt with other
devices and software, we recommend you configure the tape
controller to an unused interrupt line for the maximun
system performance reason."

"The tape controller uses one of the system's DMA     
channels to transfer data between disk and tape. DMA0
and DMA1 may always be used if they do not conflict
with other devices in your system (no asterisk appears).
DMA2 and DMA3 are used by the diskette and fixed disk
controllers respectively. If necessary, the tape
controller can share DMA2 or DMA3, provided that: (1)
that disk and the tape do not use the same DMA channel
at the same time; OR (2) you configure the tape software
for Single DMA Mode (refer to manual). For example, if
you use DMA2 for the tape, you will not be able to back
up diskettes except in single DMA mode. WARNING: No
asterisk will appear next to DMA2 or DMA3, even if
another add-on device in your system (e.g. a network
card) is also trying to share the same DMA, but neither
the tape nor that add-on device will work in this case."
