I would assume that this is a moth of some kind, but I didn't think that the average large moth was quite this colorful.
Turns out that although I initially thought that this moth had died, some studying revealed that this kind of moth will remain totally still for several hours after leaving its cocoon. This ended up being the case and the moth later flew off. I haven't seen it since the picture below was taken.
