UTILITY has the following functions: Equipment Information: This option will display the system type ie. IBM PS/2 Model, the Planar speed, the processor type and step level, the processor speed and will indicate whether a math co-processor is installed or not. Note: The install diskette must not be write protected when this option is selected. The program will check for write protect and display an error panel. Also if a memory manager is active this option may cause some problems. With EMM386 installed a DMA space error may occur if the CONFIG.SYS EMM386 device line does not contain the option d=64. The message returned from the error will be displayed and when return is pressed the system may re-boot. Select directories: Allows change of the directory name to install to. Select drives: Allows changes of the drive to install from and the drive to install to. Create directory: Requests directory to create for installation of programs. The default directory is \SLCNOW. NOTE: If the default directory is used and it does not exist on the target (To) drive, it will be created. Cache Setup: Brings up the Cacheable regions selection option. For most users the default selection should be used. Brings up the READ ONLY or READ WRITE status of Cache regions selection option. For most users the default selection should be used. Brings up the maximum number of cacheable 64Kb regions selection option. Only the actual number of regions available will be cached. The selected number of cacheable regions may be larger than the actual amount of memory present. For most users the default selection should be used. Processor Setup: Brings up the options to: Turn cache on or off. Turn double clock mode on or off for 486SLC2. Turn Cyrix math co-processor cache read on or off. Driver Statement: Displays CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=............ line. This line may be changed by selecting different options on the Cache Setup and/or Processor Setup panels. Transfer Upgrade files: The appropriate files will be copied from the installation drive to the specified system drive and directory. Back-up&Modify CONFIG.SYS: Allows the back-up of the CONFIG.SYS file: The CONFIG.SYS file for the system will be backed-up to a file named CONFIG.nnn where nnn is a number which starts at 001 to a max of 999. Each time INSTALL is run or the BACK-UP CONFIG.SYS option is used the file extension number will increment. Allows CONFIG.SYS file to be modified or for an EXAMPLE file (CONFIG.UPG) to be built with the appropriate modification for the upgrade card DEVICE= line in it. NOTE: If CONFIG.SYS does not exist one will be created in the root directory of the target (To) drive. Back-up&Modify AUTOEXEC.BAT: Allows the back-up of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file: The AUTOEXEC.BAT file for the system will be backed-up to a file named AUTOEXEC.nnn where nnn is a number which starts at 001 to a max of 999. Each time INSTALL is run or the BACK-UP AUTOEXEC.BAT option is used the file extension number will increment. Allows AUTOEXEC.BAT file to be modified or for an EXAMPLE file (AUTOEXEC.UPG) to be built with the appropriate modification for the path statement in it. NOTE: If AUTOEXEC.BAT does not exist one will be created in the root directory of the target (To) drive. To use INSTALL.EXE as a utility program, to make future modifications of CONFIG.SYS and/or AUTOEXEC.BAT, it may be run from the distribution disk or the following files can be copied to the hard drive: INSTALL.EXE, CHKPROC.EXE, PROSPEED.EXE and all three *.TXT files. The From Drive option must be used to set the drive from which the options will be executed. All of the options of the program except INSTALLATION will be available. End of File:
