(This Site's) Inspiration & Recommended Reading
It may come as no surprise that this site was created as the result of inspiration from other sources.
Over
many years, I slowly became jaded to computing, and didn't really take
too much interest in it after a while. In 2013, I met a person who
was (and to this day, still
does) run his own personal home file-server, active directory service,
website and Microsoft "Remote Applications" server. For several months,
I had already been running a small, yet very useful file-server on my
home network from a HP desktop. This person inspired me to get a copy
of Windows Server, setup a Raid-1 array and start playing around, and
seeing what I could accomplish.
From here, my interest in computers was
rekindled, and hadn't been so "on fire" for several years.
I have remained reasonably interested in computer ever since - which may be noticeable from the content on this Webserver.
During
this time, I was also rekindling hopes of running Windows 98 Second
Edition on a computer I had. Someway, somehow, I came across another
person's Webserver - One that had earned the name "Greyghost." (Sounds
awfully becoming!) In the end, this desire blew over, as I found
Windows 98 just wasn't what I remembered it to be on hardware far
superior to what I had ever used with it. The machine in question
always was a tad slow, no matter the OS. Today it runs Windows 2000
with Un-Official Updates.
During
my time browsing, I read many interesting webpages on that particular
site, which further 'enraged' my computing passion, and ultimately
inspired me to setup this particular webserver.
You can find "William's Personal Webserver and Random Thoughts" (Greyghost) Here.
"What, you still have more to write about?" Asks the intrepid reader. Why yes, yes I do, in fact!
Having read many of William's adventures, I also became interested in the IBM PS/2 (That's Personal System 2,
not PlayStation2), and have found many resources dedicated to informing
other collectors and web-surfers (such as myself) about various PS/2 hardware, software and utilities they have used.
Here is just some of what I've happened across:
As I happen across more of this content, I will add to this list, as I see fit.
Some other websites I've happened across (the hope here is in creating something of a "WebRing")
